During the Society’s Annual Charity Meeting held on 11 July at University of Leeds, the Society’s President, Professor Philip Calder announced members who have been elected to positions on the Board of Trustees and Advisory Council. The recent membership voting was organised by UK Engage on behalf of the Nutrition Society for the first time.
On the Trustee Board Professor Julie Lovegrove has been elected as President-Elect; Dr Frank Thies elected as Honorary Science Officer; Dr Dean Sewell elected as Honorary Officer for Membership (which is a new post on the Trustee Board); and Dr Carrie Ruxton elected as Honorary Strategic Communications Officer. The Meeting noted Professor Lovegrove will not formally take up her role as President-Elect until 4 December 2018.
On the Advisory Council Professor Bruce Griffin has been elected as the Member for Academia, and elected unopposed are Dr John Brameld as Member for Animal Nutrition; Kate Halliwell, as Member for Industry; and Dr Adrienne Cullum, as Member for Policy.
The Society would like to thank retiring Trustee members Dr Sue Bird (as Honorary Strategic Communications Officer) and Professor Andrew Salter (as Honorary Science Officer), plus Advisory Council Members Dr Shauna Cunningham (as Member for Academia) and Samantha Montel (as Member for Policy) for their commitment and hard work in serving both the Society’s Board of Trustees and Advisory Council, and for the important roles they have played with helping to deliver the Society’s strategic objectives set out within the Society's Strategic Plan.
