Plant-based diets with limited or no animal-sourced products are widely recommended for purported health and environmental benefits. While evidence for the relatively low environmental impact of plant-based diets is clear, the evidence on the long-term health impacts of plant-based diets is sparse, and existing studies have suggested both health benefits and risks. The overall aim of this SIG is to bring together researchers with an interest on this topic, create a platform that fosters the development of this area of research and strengthen the evidence base.
Aims and Objectives
- To establish a network of researchers working in this space
- To disseminate up-to-date evidence at regular intervals within the network and more widely
- To discuss and identify relevant research gaps and possible collaboration opportunities
- To host regular workshops for SIG members and beyond to foster knowledge exchange
